West Fargo police arrest 3 after officer shoots car tireWEST FARGO – West Fargo police arrested three people this morning following an incident in which an officer shot out a tire on a vehicle.
According to a police report on the incident:
Officers went to the Sunset Motel about 10:15 a.m. on a report that individuals wanted for outstanding warrants were staying there.
Officers found two people sitting in a vehicle in the motel parking lot and ordered them out of the car.
The occupants of the car refused commands to leave the vehicle and instead started the car.
An officer, fearing someone might be run over, shot out one of the car’s tires.
The two occupants then got out of the vehicle and were arrested.
A third person was found in a room in the motel and arrested on outstanding warrants.
The two people in the car were identified by police as Ethan Thompson, no permanent address, and Robin Heinonen, whose last known address was given as Ponsford, Minn.
Police said Thompson faces charges of possession of narcotics paraphernalia and possession of marijuana stemming from this morning’s incident. Thompson also had warrants, one for burglary and one for assault.
Police said Heinonen was charged with preventing an arrest, obstruction of justice and physical obstruction.
The person arrested in the hotel room was identified by police as Seth D. Grossman, West Fargo. He was arrested on warrants connected to charges of carrying a concealed weapon and attempting to flee a police officer.
He also faces charges stemming from today’s incident, including possession of narcotics paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, police said.
