Letter: Vet board took no position on 5The person who wrote a letter to the editor published in the Oct. 18 Forum does not have the facts straight. The Veterinarians Board in North Dakota is neutral on Measure 5, neither for nor against the measure.
There was a meeting with the head of the board before Measure 5 was ever filed, and the language exempting horse branding was added at her request.
The measure is to protect dogs, cats and horses from abhorrent abuse. I can’t imagine any North Dakotan condoning the abuse of any animal, especially domesticated animals. The laws in North Dakota should reflect the values of North Dakotans.
Please be sure you have correct facts before heading out to vote. The animals need a voice.
I would like a reason from any opponent of this measure as to why they are against it? North Dakota is one of three states that does not prosecute animal abusers. Isn’t it time for North Dakota to show the rest of America this is not the wild West where you can get away with abusing, torturing, dismembering and burning animals? How many more tragic stories on the news before a change is made?
