11-year-old injured in Otter Tail crash diesFERGUS FALLS, Minn. – An 11-year-old girl injured in a crash near Spitzer Lake on Oct. 14 died Monday, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department.
The girl was identified as Claire Turner, of Ashby.
Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements.
The sheriff’s office reported earlier that a female driver of an SUV traveling westbound on county Highway 38 lost control of the vehicle near the intersection with county Highway 81. The SUV went into the north ditch and rolled over, ejecting Turner, who had been in a rear passenger seat. Turner was initially taken to Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls and later to a Fargo hospital.
The driver and two other passengers in the vehicle were treated and released from Lake Region Hospital after the crash.
The sheriff’s office didn’t release any additional information on the crash Monday.
According to a death notice released by the funeral home, Turner died at Sanford Children’s Hospital.
Turner attended Underwood Public School, where officials prepared a grief room Monday for students having difficulty dealing with the news.
