Style Profile: Sharp dresser takes pride in what he wears
I spotted Dahl downtown at Halberstadt’s Men’s Clothiers, where he works. From his pompadour hairstyle to his trendy boots, Dahl has a look that could easily grace the pages of a men’s fashion magazine.
What are you wearing?
Hugo Boss boots, Diesel jeans, coat, vest and shirt are John Varvatos, and my tie is Hugo Boss.
Describe your style.
I don’t have any one style. It’s more about how I feel.
Do you have any advice for choosing the perfect suit?
I don’t think you can go wrong with classics like gray, charcoal and black suits. Fit is the most important thing. Slim-fitting suits are really in.
What’s your favorite clothing item?
It changes, but right now, it’s Diesel denim. Nothing else compares.
Where do you like to shop?
Halberstadt’s because we have a lot of really unique things; Gap, Urban Outfitters and J. Crew. Most of my shopping is done online.
Have other people had an influence on your style?
I had a college friend from Denmark who was really fashion forward, and he influenced my style. I’d always ask him what the next trend would be. He wore skinny jeans, and people made fun of him. Now everyone wears them.
Bow ties or traditional neck ties?
I prefer skinny or knit neck ties.
What will people never see you wearing?
Sweats and short-sleeve dress shirts. I like to go to the gym, so I think it’s OK to wear sweats then, but you’d never see me outside the gym wearing sweats.
If you could pick one store to come to Fargo, what would you pick
Do you think people in Fargo-Moorhead are generally stylish?
I think that it’s great to be comfortable in your clothes, but everyone could take a little more pride in what they’re wearing – don’t be afraid to stand out a little more. Men shouldn’t be afraid of being fashionable.
What magazines do you read?
GQ, Esquire and Details.
