A&E cable channel filming in area for show on 1997 Clay County murder
Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist said crews from the A&E cable TV channel will film at a number of spots in the area, including one scene that will attempt to recreate the murder of AnneMarie Camp, whose body was found in May 1997 at an abandoned farm near Sabin.
Today, the farmhouse is gone, so the film crew will shoot in a different area, said Bergquist, who added A&E will also interview investigators involved in the case.
Michael Gianakos is serving a life sentence for the shotgun death of Camp, who worked as a baby sitter for Gianakos and his wife, Jamie Dennis-Gianakos.
Dennis-Gianakos pleaded guilty in state court to involvement in Camp’s death and is serving a 25-year sentence.
In 2000, Michael Gianakos was found guilty in state court of first-degree murder.
The conviction was thrown out after the Min-nesota Supreme Court ruled his wife should not have been allowed to testify against him.
Gianakos was convicted in federal court in 2003 of kidnapping resulting in death.
Gianakos has maintained he is innocent.
Dennis-Gianakos testi-fied at both of his trials, claiming Gianakos shot Camp in the head with a shotgun.
