Letter: Fliers in church lot were offensiveI came out of church on Sunday morning and was surprised to see a flier under my car’s windshield wiper. All the cars in the parking lot had fliers. It was a flier for the election of Rick Berg to the U.S. Senate, paid for by the North Dakota Republican Party.
I find Berg’s tactic to be offensive, and it irritates me. I do not expect to be bombarded by political propaganda on Sunday mornings outside my church. When I called the church on Monday, the church employee was shocked and said they should not be doing that.
I question if it is legal, since churches and other tax-exempt institutions are not allowed to endorse political candidates.
