Districts 20, 24 to elect several new North Dakota legislatorsVoters in North Dakota Districts 20 and 24 will elect a number of new legislators on Nov. 6.
Contested races along with candidates’ names, political parties, ages, hometowns and occupations are as follows (* denotes incumbent):
- District 20 Senate: *Phil Murphy, D-Portland, 59, educator; Melvin Erdmann, R-Hillsboro, 67, retired.
Murphy was appointed to the seat held by Elroy Lindaas in 2010 when he resigned due to his wife’s health concerns.
- District 20 House: *Rick Holman, R-Mayville, 69, retired professor and farmer; Gail Money, D-Cummings, 51, photographer and county commissioner.
- District 24 Senate: *Larry Robinson, D-Valley City, 63, executive director of the Valley City State University Foundation; Keith Hovland, R-Valley City, 62, retired factory manager at John Deere in Valley City.
- District 24 House: Sharon Buhr, D-Valley City, 66, public health nutritionist; Dwight Kiefert, R-Valley City, 55, farmer and contractor; Naomi Muscha, D-Enderlin, 58, retired high school teacher; Myrene Peterson, R-Enderlin, 64, city librarian and sheep farmer.
Ralph Metcalf and Philip Mueller previously held the District 24 House seats and have both retired.
District 20 includes portions of Cass, Traill and Grand Forks counties. District 24 includes portions of Cass, Barnes and Ransom counties.
