Crystal Sugar workers to hold Fargo rally kicking off national boycott

FARGO – American Crystal Sugar Co.’s locked-out workers will hold rallies in front of grocery stores here and in Grand Forks on Monday as a kickoff to a national consumer boycott of the company’s products.

Union officials announced that the workers and their family and supporters will hold an event Monday from 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Hornbacher’s Village West, 4101 13th Ave. S., in Fargo.

A similar rally will be held at a Hugo’s store in Grand Forks Monday.

About 1,300 union workers at the company’s plants in Minnesota, North Dakota and Iowa, including a processing plant in Moorhead, have been locked out since August 2011 because of a contract dispute.
