Book launch, reading Sunday at ZandbrozFARGO – The Dakota Institute will host a book launch at 3 p.m. Sunday at Zandbroz Variety, 420 Broadway, for “The Psalms of King David” translated by Alan Sullivan, an author and poet who lived most of his adult life in Fargo.
Sullivan worked on the project while battling leukemia and lymphoma during the final year of his life. He completed his translations on June 24, 2010, 15 days before he died.
He was assisted by Hebrew expert Seree Cohen Zohar in Jerusalem. Timothy Murphy, an author and Sullivan’s longtime partner, will tell the story of how Sullivan’s translation came about and do a reading of some of the psalms.
Murphy’s reading will be complemented by songs from Alex Seefeldt, a student at Fargo Shanley High School, who will cant a variety of psalms.
The event is free and open to the public.
