Participation in local Scouting programs upFARGO – The number of youths participating in Scouting programs across the Northern Lights Council of Boy Scouts of America continues to grow.
At the end of September, the biggest recruiting month of the year, the Northern Lights Council reported a fifth consecutive month of membership growth.
In the month of September, the Fargo-Moorhead area experienced an 18 percent increase in the number of Cub Scouts joining the program compared to last September.
Tiger Cubs, the entry-level program for Scouting, is up 15 percent compared to a year ago and membership in the Boy Scouts for ages 11 to 18 is up 5 percent.
Participation in Exploring, a career-interest program for young men and women ages 14 to 20, has nearly doubled over the past year.
