Lulu Belle and Scotty stir up fond memories

Here’s another musical memory. It comes from Wilfred Clemenson, Fargo, who writes:

“My wife, Virginia, and I traveled for years to Colorado, New Mexico and Texas to visit our children and grandchildren.

“Along the way, we generally stopped at truck stops to refuel the car.

“While I was refueling, Virginia would check the cassette tape racks for music.

“Somewhere in our travels, she purchased two tapes of Lulu Belle and Scotty.”

They were a radio singing duo who were highly popular in the Upper Midwest, according to several people who have written Neighbors about them.

Well, Lulu Belle and Scotty and cassette tapes are history. But Willie has made CDs out of those tapes so he can still enjoy them.

“I am 81 years old,” he writes, “and I still remember hearing Lulu Belle and Scotty on a Chicago radio station when I was a young lad.”

As always, there’s nothing like music to stir up memories, right, neighbors?
