The New Life Center, Fargo, has received a $4,000 grant from Dakota Medical Foundation, Fargo.
The funds will be used for general operations funding for the homeless shelter, including emergency shelter, meals, free clothing and furniture, mental health assistance, free medical clinic, traveler’s aid and a veteran’s program.
Ronald McDonald House receives donated quilts
Mary Dahlen of Mahnomen, Minn., has donated 60 hand-painted and handmade quilts to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Red River Valley, Fargo.
Dahlen has worked at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen for the past 13 years and has been hand-painting quilts for many years.
The quilts will be given to children who are being served by the RMHC-RRV. Each of the quilts is hand-painted with Disney and other cartoon characters, football teams, animals, landscapes and more.
Relay run raises $5,000 for Rebuilding Together
The inaugural 81 on 81 Relay Run on July 20 raised $5,000 for Rebuilding Together Fargo-Moorhead Area.
More than 90 teams participated in the relay run from Fargo to Hillsboro, N.D., and back. Mark Knutson, founder of Fargo Marathon Inc., created the 81 on 81 Relay Run as a way to raise funds for a local nonprofit group.
In 2012, Rebuilding Together completed 20 projects at homes in the area for the elderly, veterans and persons with disabilities that included building entry steps, repairing and shingling roofs, renovating bathrooms and other necessary home improvements.
