Copper thefts on the rise in Bismarck

BISMARCK — Bismarck police say copper thefts are on the rise in the city.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that police are urging anyone with a supply of copper to secure it properly to avoid theft.

Police say thefts of copper, including wire and other items, have become more common. And businesses that keep a large amount of copper on hand should consider where its stored.

Police say construction companies should lock up all tools at the end of the day, including extension cords.
