VIDEO: PETA brings 'topless mermaid' protesters to Fargo

FARGO – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals showed some skin to push veganism in a downtown protest Thursday.

Two women dressed as "topless mermaids" were on the streets downtown, encouraging passersby to go vegan.

The mermaids, Virginia Fort of Los Angeles and Tessa Callan of Washington, D.C., appeared on the northeast corner of Broadway and Second Avenue North at noon.

They held signs that said “Sea Life, Not Seafood,” and encouraged people to add fish to their list of meats they won’t eat.

Leila Seliman, assistant campaigner with PETA, was handing out pamphlets with PETA's top five reasons not to eat fish.
