Fire causes $15,000 in damage outside north Fargo businessFARGO – A fire involving plastic shipping materials outside a north Fargo business just after 7 p.m. Monday caused an estimated $15,000 in damage.
When Fargo firefighters arrived at Amity Technology, a manufacturing business at 2800 7th Ave. N., they found a large amount of plastic and wood materials on fire, according to a news release. The fire was extinguished before it spread to the building or a nearby house.
The fire started when an employee was welding and ignited a cardboard box, the release stated. The employee brought the box outside, and used an extinguisher in an attempt to put it out. Embers from the box were blown into some nearby dry grass, which started on fire and spread to the materials.
The Fire Department responded with 17 personnel on three engines, one ladder, one rescue and a command vehicle. The Fargo Police department also responded and assisted with traffic control. There were no injuries reported.
