Police confirm ID of 18-year-old man struck, killed by train near NDSUFARGO - An 18-year-old Fargo man was killed early Sunday morning when he was struck by a train west of the North Dakota State University campus, according to police.
Fargo Police Lt. Joel Vettel this morning identified the victim as Colby Jacob Anderson.
Four people were attempting to cross railroad tracks near 12th Avenue and Dakota Drive around 3 a.m. when Anderson was hit by the passenger train. He died at the scene.
Vettel said alcohol may have been a factor in the case, which is being treated as an ongoing investigation.
"Obviously, it's a tragedy any time a young person dies, and we certainly will look at the case and determine if charges are appropriate," he said Sunday night.
