Style Profile: Color, shape inspire wardrobe

FARGO – When a woman is comfortable in her skin, it shows.

When she’s comfortable in her clothes, that shows, too.

I spotted Monica Bruhn, a category manager at Victoria’s Secret, downtown at Atomic Coffee looking comfortable in both.

Her black and white printed top is fresh and balances her skinny jeans. Short black booties pull the outfit together, making it casual and chic.

What are you wearing? Michael Kors booties – I’m obsessed with boots, Express jeans, top from Hot Mama in Fargo and jewelry from Forever 21.

Describe your style. I’m classy and casual. I want to always be comfortable but also fashion forward. I buy clothes that accentuate my shape. I like bold colors, and I love accessorizing.

Flats or heels? I love heels. They give you confidence and give your figure shape and movement. Heels can dress up your look.

Have you been inspired by any vacations? My mom is from Panama, and I really fell in love with Zara there. I have gold and grey metallic pumps from Zara that are a closet staple for me. Women in Panama love skinny jeans and heels.

Do any magazines inspire your look? Vogue – I love that magazine! I’m also inspired by color and shape.

Who are your favorite designers/brands? Michael Kors, Betsey Johnson, Coach, Kate Spade, Ann Taylor, Splendid, and Jessica Simpson for her shoes.

What do you need right now for fall? I want a deep-purple wrap dress. I like to accentuate my waist and hips. I’m dying for a snakeskin bag too.

What’s your shopping style? I don’t wait for sales if something fits right. I’m a little impulsive in that way. I also like to shop really early in the season.
