Christian school near Watford City cancels classes after semi hits buildingWATFORD CITY, N.D. — Classes have been canceled the rest of the week at a rural school in western North Dakota that was heavily damaged when a semitrailer crashed into it.
Johnson Corners Christian Academy administrator Adrian Timmons says the building most likely is beyond repair. He is working on getting temporary classrooms in place at the site east of Watford City and hopes to resume classes Monday. The private school has 19 students.
The Highway Patrol says the semitrailer crashed into the school at mid-day Monday after colliding with a car that failed to yield at a nearby intersection. The driver of the car was killed. Three students, a teacher and the semi driver were treated for minor injuries.
State Department of Transportation spokeswoman Jamie Olson says the agency is reviewing what happened.
