Fargo man released from hospital after he swerves to avoid raccoon, rolls carWYNDMERE, N.D. – A driver from Fargo was hurt when he swerved to avoid a raccoon and rolled his car in the ditch Sunday night along State Highway 13, the Richland County Sheriff’s Office reported.
David Bye, 23, was taken to St. Francis Healthcare Campus in Breckenridge, Minn., with unspecified injuries. He was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday.
Bye was driving a 2000 Buick westbound on Highway 13 at about 11:24 p.m. when he saw a raccoon in the road and swerved to miss it, the sheriff’s office stated in a news release. Bye lost control of the car and it slid into the south ditch and rolled, coming to rest in a field.
The vehicle was totaled.
Wyndmere Ambulance and the Wyndmere Fire Department also responded to the scene.
