Driver escapes injury in trailer-train collision

HANKINSON, N.D. — Authorities say a man pulling a horse trailer escaped injury when the trailer was struck by a freight train in southeast North Dakota.

The accident happened at 2:39 p.m. Friday near an area known as the sand hills. Authorities say the trailer was destroyed and a horse was killed.

The trailer was being pulled by a 2004 Chevrolet pickup driven by 59-year-old Joel Susag. His address was not available.

The crash remains under investigation.
