International Day of Peace observance setFARGO – A multi-faith observance of the International Day of Peace will take place starting at 7 p.m. Friday.
The observance will begin with a peace pole dedication at the North Dakota State University Lutheran Center, 1201 N. 13th Ave. The dedication will be followed by the interfaith peace service at 7:30 p.m. the NDSU Alumni Center Atrium Room, 1241 N. University Dr.
The event is sponsored by the Baha’i community, Center for Interfaith Projects, Presentation Sisters, and Unitarian Universalist Church.
Music and readings from sacred texts by representatives of eight faith traditions – Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Native American, Baha’i and Unitarian Universalist – will complete the observance.
The International Day of Peace was established by the United Nations in 1981.
