Letter: NDSU’s Gene Taylor is an honorable man

Ted Kreis had a letter published in the Sept. 12 Forum in which he questioned the integrity of North Dakota State University athletic director Gene Taylor.

Taylor is one of the most honorable men I have ever known. Kreis was referring to Taylor’s apparent lack of response to the accused football players who were supposedly collecting signatures for an initiative from phone books. First, does Kreis know anything about the specifics in this case, or is he just guessing and, in the process, vilifying a good man?

Second, how come he said nothing about the Iowa company that hires kids at $9 an hour to collect signatures for the initiative. Why is an Iowa company in the middle of a grass-roots effort to change North Dakota law?

Third, what has the University of North Dakota playing NDSU got to do with this problem? That seems to be the root of his whole problem – the fact that the “Fighting Flickertails” aren’t recognized as the current top dog in North Dakota college football.
