Keillor to kick off 39th season of 'Prairie Home Companion'

ST. PAUL — Garrison Keillor kicks off his 39th season of "A Prairie Home Companion" in downtown St. Paul this weekend.

Keillor will host a live broadcast of his popular public radio variety show from the Fitzgerald Theater on Saturday afternoon, starting at 4:45 p.m.

Following the show, the annual Prairie Home Street Dance and Meatloaf Supper will be held on Exchange Street in front of the theater. Texas band The Derailers, singer Jearlyn Steele and The Guy's All-Star Shoe Band will provide the music. The dance is open to the public and free. The meatloaf dinner costs five bucks.

Keillor hosts five more live "Prairie Home" broadcasts at the Fitzgerald Theater, on Sept. 22 and 29 and Oct. 6, 13 and 20. Rush tickets are available on show days.
