Perham students setting up 2,977 mini flags for 9/11PERHAM, Minn. – At 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, 20 students from Perham High School will be setting up 2,977 mini American flags in honor of 9/11.
They’ve been doing this every morning on 9/11 for a few years now, said Perham student Dalton Dahms.
The flags will be set up outside the high school and will be there until the end of the school day.
The students who set up the flags are organized by Perham’s Teenage Republicans group, but not all of the students who are helping honor 9/11 are Republicans, Dahms said.
“Our mentality is that it’s not a political thing, it’s an American thing,” he said.
Dahms said he hopes other schools will adopt a similar tradition.
