Another garbage bin fire reported in MoorheadMOORHEAD – Police are investigating a garbage bin fire reported Sunday night, the latest in a string of such fires this summer in a south Moorhead neighborhood.
Fire Chief Rich Duysen said 10 fires, all believed to be related, have been reported since June 25 in Dumpster-style metal garbage bins in an area south of Minnesota State University Moorhead from roughly Ninth Avenue to 11th Avenue between 18th and 19th streets south.
No buildings have been damaged so far, but officials are concerned a fire could spread to a nearby structure, Duysen said.
Sunday’s fire was reported at 9:17 p.m. at 1007 18th St. S., in a bin located about five feet from an apartment building, he said.
Police Sgt. Toby Krone said police are investigating the fires and have conducted interviews.
