FM Bowling Tour kicks off with 1st eventFARGO – The FM Bowling Tour kicked off play with the first of seven events Sunday at West Acres Bowl in Fargo.
The tour was created to give bowlers in the Fargo-Moorhead area a platform to test their skills against one another, according to its Facebook page. The tournaments are scratch tournaments with no handicap pins given to any of the bowlers.
“It was kind of a bar-napkin idea,” said founder Andy Kappes, who noted that not all competitive bowlers can afford to travel out of town for scratch tournaments.
Kappes said the fact that Fargo-Moorhead has six different bowling alleys made it an ideal place for a bowling tour.
Travis Hersrud, owner of Travel’s Pro Shop at West Acres Bowl and a tournament veteran, helped get the series running, Kappes said.
“This tour will work out pretty good because it will get bowlers to bowl in centers they normally wouldn’t,” Hersrud said.
Events will take place at West Acres Bowl, Red River Lanes, Spare Time Lanes in Casselton, N.D., Stars and Strikes, All-Star Bowl and Sunset Lanes between now and the end of February.
