Akeley man inured when car struck by trainOTTER COUNTY, Minn. - A 31-year-old Akeley man was injured when his vehicle was struck by a train at approximately 4:45 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 10.
The Ottertail County Dispatch reported that Harold Hartwig Jr.’s vehicle was found on the eastbound train tracks with no person present. Investigation revealed that it had been parked in between the east- and westbound train tracks, partially on the westbound train tracks.
Hartwig’s vehicle was struck, and an area search located Hartwig, who claims he was a passenger in the vehicle during the accident. He sustained lacerations and other minor injuries. He refused medical transport
The accident is under investigation by the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department.
