Two injured when deer strikes motorcycle near Sibley

SIBLEY, N.D. – Two people are injured after their motorcycle struck a deer at 9:30 a.m. Sunday on Highway 26, just west of Sibley.

Mark S. Gusaas, 55, and Valerie J. Gusaas, 52, both of Horace, were thrown from the motorcycle Mark Gusaas was driving when the deer ran into the left side of the bike. Both riders were wearing helmets and full leather gear.

The Gusaases were taken to Mercy Hospital in Jamestown. Mark Gusaas was later flown to Sanford Health in Fargo.

The Gusaases were part of a 24-person motorcycle group that was traveling from Fargo to Jamestown as part of a Harley Owners Group annual ride.
