Sept. 29 is National Public Lands DayFERGUS FALLS, Minn. – In recognition of National Public Lands Day, the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center will host “Take Back the Prairie Day” on Sept. 29.
National Public Lands Day is an annual event that brings together thousands of volunteers from coast to coast to improve and restore the lands and facilities that Americans use for recreation and education. Last year, more than 150,000 people participated in all 50 states.
Volunteers will assist at the refuge from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and a complementary cookout will follow at noon.
Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and hand tools. The refuge also will have some available for use.
