Letter: Editorial cartoon causes a major double take

While reading the editorials in The Forum (Sept. 1), I did a double take when I saw the political cartoon. The “everyday joe” is screaming at his wife about having to choose a party candidate by religion, except he mentioned a Muslim (along with a Mormon and two Catholics). I assume the author of the cartoon believes that President Barack Obama is Muslim.

When will this “issue” end? Remember when John Kennedy being a Catholic was a huge issue when he ran for president in 1960? Even if Obama were a Muslim, I have no problem with that (even though there is no proof otherwise). We have to get past religious persecution in America.
