Style Profile: Virginia native brings splash of East Coast

On a lovely fall-like day last week, I spotted Cristina Dargan on the Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) campus.

I’m a fan of the floral trend, and Dargan’s tiny floral-print tank adds the perfect splash of color to her neutral outfit. She’s set for fall with her cozy cardigan, knee-high boots and essential black leggings.

Dargan, a Fredericksburg, Va., native, moved to Fargo last year and is studying anthropology.

What are you wearing? Fifty percent of my outfit is Target – I try to be a bargain shopper. Skirt and cardigan are from Target, tank is from T.J.Maxx and boots are from Shoe Carnival.

Describe your style. Simple, yet fun.

What’s your fashion philosophy? Wear what you’re comfortable in, even if it’s not trendy. Keep one thing bold and the rest simple. Have fun with your clothes!

You told me you’re Brazilian, black and a little Italian. Does your ethnicity influence your style? I think so – it’s (my background) kind of fun and crazy, so I try to have some color or some pop of something. I also embrace my hair and dress to flatter my figure.

Where do you get your fashion inspiration? I look on Pinterest.

What’s one place you’re dying to visit? Somewhere colorful, different and beautiful like India. I’ve always wanted to go there.

How does Midwestern style compare to East Coast style? Fashion here (in Fargo-Moorhead) is more laid back, and fashion on the East Coast is more expressive. People really express who they are there through their fashion.

What’s your favorite lip color? I like pink, but nothing too bright.
