West Fargo wind turbine plant sold to Texas companyWEST FARGO – The property of a wind tower manufacturer here has been sold to a company in Texas.
DMI announced layoffs in 2009 of 160 workers in two rounds, 60 of them from its West Fargo plant. As of 2010, DMI was forecasting “steady and gradual” hiring to occur as the economy began to recover.
But facing uncertainty about the future of wind energy as a part of the national energy policy, Otter Tail Corp. announced in August it would be attempting to sell DMI to a then-unnamed entity.
Otter Tail Corp. has corporate offices in Fergus Falls, Minn., and Fargo.
Trinity Industries is headquartered in Dallas and provides products and services to the industrial, energy, transportation and construction sectors, according to the release.
