West Fargo wind turbine plant sold to Texas companyWEST FARGO – The property of a wind tower manufacturer here has been sold to a company in Texas.
According to a release from Otter Tail Corp., the property, plant and equipment of DMI Industries here has been sold by Otter Tail to Trinity Industries in Dallas, Texas.
DMI, a local manufacturer of wind towers, employs 216 people in West Fargo, and 500 people among its three locations.
Calls were not immediately answered from Otter Tail Corp. or DMI on late Thursday evening as to how the sale will affect employees.
The property, plant and equipment of the two DMI locations in Fort Erie, Ont., and Tulsa, Okla., were also a part of the $20 million deal, the release said. The deal with the West Fargo plant will be finalized in November, the release said.
Otter Tail Corp. has corporate offices in Fergus Falls, Minn., and Fargo.
Trinity Industries is headquartered in Dallas and provides products and services to the industrial, energy, transportation and construction sectors, according to the release.
