Hearings continued for teen suspects in Mapleton, Fargo robberiesFARGO – Continuances were granted Tuesday in deciding whether three teenagers accused in recent Cass County robberies should have their cases transferred from juvenile to adult court.
A robbery charge was filed last week against a 17-year-old Fargo boy in connection with the Aug. 20 armed robbery of Gordy’s Travel Plaza in Mapleton.
The boy also has been charged, along with a 17-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy, with conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with the Aug. 17 stickup of the Giant Panda restaurant in Fargo.
The Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office wants the cases transferred to adult court.
Juvenile court proceedings are closed to the public, but transfer hearings are open. During Tuesday’s hearings, continuances were granted because one teen was still trying to get an attorney and lawyers for the other teens wanted more time to prepare and, in one case, to have the teen evaluated to see if he would be amenable to treatment or rehabilitation.
All three teens remain in juvenile detention.
