5-year-old Grand Forks boy hurt in ATV accidentPERHAM, Minn. – A 5-year-old boy from Grand Forks suffered a severe cut to his face in an ATV accident Saturday near Perham, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The boy’s father, Jeffrey Rost, a 34-year-old attorney, was giving his 5- and 3-year-old sons a ride on a 2009 Polaris four-wheeler at about 7:05 p.m. They were driving up an embankment when the rear tires dropped into a depression and the ATV flipped over backward onto all three occupants, the sheriff’s office stated in a news release.
The 5-year-old suffered a severe laceration to the side of his face. He was taken to the Perham hospital and then airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.
The cut required stitches, and the boy was still in the hospital Monday night but was doing OK, said his grandmother, Donna Rost of Grand Forks. Donna Rost is the wife, of Grand Forks County Sheriff Robert Rost.
The news release from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office stated that Jeffrey Rost and the 3-year-old boy suffered minor injuries, but Donna Rost said they weren’t hurt.
