Fargo man accused of biting officer, burglary

FARGO – A 19-year-old Fargo man is accused of biting a police officer while being detained in connection with a reported assault early Sunday in north Fargo.

Police were called at 1:29 a.m. to an apartment at 1104 19th St. N. for a reported assault. When officers told the man he was going to be detained, he began to actively resist, Sgt. Jim VanLith said.

The man refused to walk to the police car, and as officers were carrying him, he bit one of them in the arm, VanLith said. He also threatened to kill officers, he said.

Kom Coyle Draeger was arrested on suspicion of assault on a peace officer, terrorizing and preventing arrest and was cited for an alcohol violation.

The officer who was bitten did not seek medical treatment, VanLith said.

While investigating the incident, police also identified Draeger as a suspect in a burglary in the 1000 block of 18th Street North and arrested him in connection with the break-in, VanLith said. Draeger and the burglary victim may have been acquainted, he said.
