New York foundation planning 9/11 projects in North Dakota

MINOT, N.D. – About 200 volunteers with the New York Says Thank You Foundation are planning projects early this month in North Dakota to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

One of the projects is Annie’s House, a special ski lodge being built at the Bottineau Winter Park in memory of Ann Nelson, a Stanley native who died in the World Trade Center attack. The lodge will teach children with disabilities and wounded soldiers how to ski.

The volunteers also will help with a community art project aimed at boosting the spirits of 2011 Souris River flood survivors in Minot, as well as with a housing project in the city

The volunteers will include 20 New York firefighters, some of them survivors of the World Trade Center attack.
