Authorities raid Minneapolis nightclubMINNEAPOLIS — Authorities say a Minneapolis nightclub that has been under scrutiny for recent late-night disturbances is now the subject of a tax fraud investigation.
Authorities say Friday that state officials raided Envy nightclub a day earlier. The Minnesota Department of Revenue said the owners may be avoiding tax payments, and may owe the state up to $60,000.
The Star Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/TH2zAY) many items were confiscated, including cellphones and computers.
No charges have been filed against club owners James and Susan Beamon. A home listing for them could not be found and they did not immediately return a message left at the club Saturday by The Associated Press.
The club was on the city's radar as it tries to combat violence downtown. City officials said Envy surrendered its liquor license Thursday.
