Style Profile: Thrifty shopper Tweten shows an eye for style

FARGO – Feminine and fun, bows inject whimsy into fashion. I spotted Elise Tweten on downtown Fargo’s Main Avenue wearing the trend well.

Her summer-appropriate outfit hints at fall with its copper tones. Tweten, the young adult ministry coordinator at Trinity Lutheran and a server at Nichole’s Fine Pastry, said this is her all-time favorite outfit.

What are you wearing? My shoes are thrifted from Savers, the shorts and top are from Proper & Prim (a downtown boutique located at 317 Broadway), and I got my bracelet and earrings at One World (614 Main Ave., Fargo). I like to shop local.

Describe your style. Sometimes I’m grandma chic and like to wear big sweaters with skinny pants. Other times, I’m floaty and feminine and wear soft colors. I avoid saturated colors because they wash me out.

What’s your favorite soft color? Lavender.

Pants or dresses? I’m usually wearing a dress. They’re so easy and feel so good.

Heels or flats? I like a good flat – they’re versatile.

What’s your style philosophy? I believe in thrifting as much as possible. It’s important to me to reuse things. It’s part of a low-impact lifestyle that’s good all around.

I also believe that when you look nice, you feel nice. Dressing well is important to your well-being.

What are your favorite thrift and resale stores? Savers (1623 38th St. S., Fargo), My Best Friend’s Closet (11 9th St. S., Moorhead) and Clothes Mentor (2551 45th St. S., Fargo).

What’s your best-ever find at one of those stores? I found amazing tan leather riding boots for $25 at Clothes Mentor.

Where do you go for style inspiration? Elle’s Street Chic Daily Style Blog – it’s cool to see what people around the world wear.
