Weekend watch: Fishbone at House of RockWednesday
Fishbone was one of those bands you heard more from and about long after their heyday. A staple of the Los Angeles funk/punk scene in the mid-1980s, the hard-rocking horn act jammed with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Beastie Boys and inspired the next wave of ska acts like No Doubt.
The group’s biggest fan was John Cusack, who wore their signature fish bones shirt in “Say Anything” and reportedly played the group in that movie’s iconic boom box scene, though Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” was added later.
The group brings its legendarily energetic live show to The House of Rock at The Hub, 2525 9th Ave. S., Fargo, at 9 p.m., Wednesday. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door for this ID-only show. (866) 300-8300
