Walgreens subsidiary to close Fargo call center

FARGO –Take Care Health Systems, a subsidiary of Walgreens, will close its Fargo call center at 4165 30th Ave. S. before the end of the year.

The decision was made to consolidate operations to call centers that employ 500 or more people, said Jim Graham, spokesman for the Walgreens corporate office in Deerfield, Ill.

The Fargo center employs 63 representatives.

The move is expected to increase efficiencies in training and operational processes at the company.

Employees of the call center, which opened in 2007, take calls relating to recruiting, billing and customer service for clinics that operate within Walgreens pharmacies.

Graham said work-from-home opportunities will be offered to 28 employees.

“The employees there (Fargo) have been consistently recognized for their outstanding work,” said Graham, “and one of the reasons we are retaining almost half of them is to maintain institutional knowledge and consistency for our clinicians and patients.”

The remaining positions, which Graham described as patient service center jobs, will shift to a customer care facility based in Orlando, Fla.
