Letter: Resist clever dogma peddlers

I’ve just read the Aug. 25 SheSays article on family Sunday school. Let’s not beat around the bush – the idea being proposed is that the indoctrination of children doesn’t work quite as well when it is carried out by outsiders. Therefore, they would like parents present to present their unfounded beliefs to children as absolute truth.

As we all know, children necessarily and naturally take everything their parents tell them as truth. When there is a chance to throw dogma in the church, they will definitely take it.

I need not talk about what betrays their true goals. They say freely that they are trying to found their belief deeply enough when people are children that they will hold that belief for the rest of their lives.

It saddens me that our society is so accepting of indoctrination, but I am not at all surprised by The Forum printing it. A few months ago, we saw a woman being commended for giving pajamas to underprivileged children – a woman who rather than using all of the money allotted to each person on things they actually need, makes sure to lay some aside to include a book of her own dogma.
