Letter: God didn’t create homosexuals

I would like to respond to the question asked by Cinde Morris in Your Opinion on Aug. 11: “If God created marriage only for men and women, then why did he create gay people?”

God did not create homosexuals or fornicators or adulterers, just as he did not create murderers, thieves, drunkards or the covetous. God created human beings with free will. Unfortunately, all have sinned. God’s word teaches that Jesus died to save us from the penalty of sin through repentance, forgiveness and new life. Christ identifies all his true followers as those who are obedient to his word.

God’s design only condones sexual behavior between a man and a woman within marriage. Homosexuality is a sin that is the result of the fallen condition of mankind. Jesus promises that when we turn from our sin and cast ourselves on his mercy, he will cleanse us of all our sin. He will remove the power of sin from our lives.
