Weekend watch: Musician Elizabeth Cook at the Aquarium
Elizabeth Cook has spent more time with sinners than saints – raised in honky tonks with her performing parents – but she brings them all together on her new EP, “Gospel Plow.” Tunes like “If I Had My Way, I’d Tear This Building Down” and “Every Humble Knee Must Bow” have almost as much grit as glory.
Cook, her husband, guitarist Tim Carroll, and bassist Bones Hillman (formerly of Midnight Oil) bring the holy harmonies as well as her more hedonistic tunes like “El Camino” and “Heroin Addict Sister” to The Aquarium, 226 Broadway. Tickets for this ID-only 9 p.m. show are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. (866) 300-8300.
