West Fargo man suffers injury in accidental shooting

WEST FARGO – Police responded to an accidental shooting here Thursday afternoon that brought one man to the hospital for non-critical injuries, according to a West Fargo Police Department news release.

After receiving calls, officers found a 22-year-old West Fargo man in his garage with a gunshot wound to his right foot, the release said.

Police say neighbors had wrapped the foot to control the bleeding, and the man was taken to Essentia Health. His injuries were non-life-threatening, police said. Police recovered a .22 caliber rifle, shell casing and bullet at the scene.

The city prosecutor will be investigating the incident for possible charges of discharging a firearm in the city, police said in the release.
