Area Olympians and Olympics hopefuls to perform on Broadway during Aug. 26 Streets AliveFARGO – A slew of area Olympians fresh from their competitions in London will be on hand at the Aug. 26 Streets Alive in downtown Fargo, event organizers say.
The latest in a series of summer events will shut down three miles of downtown streets in Fargo-Moorhead to motorized traffic in order to encourage walking, running and bicycling and feature an “Olympic Hour” from 2 until 3 p.m. on Broadway.
Kids and adults alike will be allowed to compete against the Olympians in mini tests of strength and speed, organizers said in a news release Friday.
On hand for the annual event will be triple jumper Amanda Smock, a North Dakota State University graduate; runners Laura Roesler from Fargo and Laura Januszewski, an NDSU graduate; pole vaulter Leslie Brost, a current NDSU student; marathoner Eric Loeffler an NDSU graduate; and javelin thrower Riley Dolezal, an NDSU graduate.
The event runs from noon to 5 p.m.
