Sanford helps in many waysOver the summer there have been many articles about the millions of dollars Sanford Health has bestowed on our community. I would like to acknowledge the tremendous impact of the “non-monetary” contributions provided by Sanford Health.
The school year will soon begin, and I would like to thank the Sanford Health employees for sharing their time, talent and energy with the children at Horace Mann/Roosevelt School.
HMR is fortunate to have had a partnership with Sanford (formerly MeritCare) for the past 14 years through the Fargo Public Schools Adopt-A-School Program. Sanford Health employees have been matched yearly with more than 30 children through the mentor program. Some volunteers become readers who read every week in each of the classrooms. Sanford staff assists with a Career Day for the fourth- and fifth-grade students. Monthly noon healthy eating tips are presented, and a baby-sitting clinic is held every year. Employees volunteer to come and assist in supervising games during the annual Field Day. A summer art program is held in June for children from HMR.
The personal touches of these volunteers are felt by all who attend HMR.
We are thankful that Sanford Health and HMR have created a true partnership of learning and caring.
