Grand Forks woman arrested on human trafficking charge
The 22-year-old is one of three people prosecutors say pimped a 17-year-old girl to several older men in early 2011 in Grand Forks. The charge of trafficking a minor for sexual purposes is as steep as any state law, carrying a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole. Joshua Harry, 27, and Travis Johnson, 29, face the same charge.
Prosecutors said Stewart and Johnson would take the girl to see clients and Stewart would introduce her and take money upfront.
The daughter of a former police chief, Stewart now awaits a preliminary hearing in the Grand Forks County jail, the same jail in which Dale Densmore, the man who shot her father twice in the head when she was only weeks old, awaits a September hearing on felony drug charges.
Stewart’s father, Eric Stewart, was 30 and the police chief in Emerado when he was shot. He survived the shooting but needed extensive medical care and therapy for his wounds.
