Weekend watch: Chelsey Dahlstrom, Kaylyn Gerenz and MacKenzie Kouba receptionsTonight and Friday
Women seem to dominate the local young artist scene and three colorful creators get space to show their works this weekend. Chelsey Dahlstrom and Kaylyn Gerenz, known as Threadleaf Studios, let their fur fly at 7 p.m. tonight at Custom Framing @ Gallery 14, 14 Roberts St., Fargo.
The duo each explores animal life and form in fabric, but also prints and drawings. The show is up through the month. Mackenzie Kouba (art pictured above) has had a number of shows at Fargo’s Art Connection over the years, but she moves across the river for her first solo show Rourke Art Gallery, 523 4th St. S., Moorhead.
“Divine Oddities” takes a bold look at sideshow attractions depicted in painted portraits and sculptures. The show opens with a preview from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Friday and with a gallery talk at 2 p.m. Sunday. (218) 236-8861.
