Thursday review: Serum brightens skin, but not a dramatic lift
The serum is supposed to make your skin appear firmer and more radiant.
With seasonal allergies and an extremely active toddler who still doesn’t like to sleep all the way through the night both competing to see which can cause the deepest bags under my eyes, I could definitely use firmer, more radiant skin.
But I’ve been using the serum for about two weeks now, and I can’t see much of a difference. I even tried putting it on just one side of my face, but there wasn’t a noticeable difference then, either.
Then, the other day I forgot to use it and my face did appear a little duller than usual. While I wouldn’t go so far as to call Lumene’s Time Freeze Instant Lift Serum “Cinderella drops,” as a news release said they are called in Europe, I would say they did add some luminosity to my skin.
The serum has a light, non-sticky, non-greasy texture and a tangy, floral scent that doesn’t linger.
The news release called the serum “an excellent quick fix for a rapid beauty makeover” that makes skin “visibly firmer and more radiant, with a fresher tone in an instant and lasts for hours.” It is supposed to be ideal for women whose skin is starting to lose its firmness and elasticity.
While it did seem to give my skin a fresher tone, it wasn’t that dramatic.
The product doesn’t contain parabens or synthetic colorants. It’s made of more than 95 percent natural ingredients, including arctic heather, which the company said protects the skin’s elastin fibers, and plant proteins, said to activate the skin’s collagen production. Arbutin in the heather prevents pigment changes in the skin, a news release stated.
Lumene’s Time Freeze Instant Lift Serum sells for $22.99 on Walgreens.com. The website, www.lumeneUSA, lists additional retailers.
